National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses
The Next Generation NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) or NGN is a standardized exam that nursing graduates must pass to become licensed as registered nurses (RNs) in the United States and Canada.
The exam is designed to test the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for entry-level nursing practice, ensuring that candidates are prepared to provide safe and effective care to patients. The NCLEX-RN covers a wide range of topics, including patient care, safety, health promotion, psychosocial integrity, and physiological integrity. Passing this exam is a crucial step for nursing graduates to obtain their RN license and begin their professional careers.
The NCLEX-RN (NGN) is required for nursing licensure in the following countries:
1. United States: All states require passing the NCLEX-RN for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
2. Canada: The NCLEX-RN is the official exam for nursing licensure across all provinces and territories.
3. Australia: Some states in Australia accept NCLEX-RN results as part of the process for international nurses seeking registration.
3. New Zealand: Similar to Australia, New Zealand may consider NCLEX-RN results for the registration of internationally qualified nurses.
4. Philippines: While the NCLEX-RN is not required for local licensure, Filipino nurses who wish to practice in the U.S., Canada, or other accepting countries must pass the NCLEX-RN.
5. India: Nurses from India seeking to work in the U.S., Canada, or other countries that require the NCLEX-RN must pass this exam.
Additionally, some international nurses may use the NCLEX-RN as part of the credentialing process when seeking to work in specific countries that recognize or accept the exam as a standard of competency.
